The Masonic Arms - a proper pub

Scotland is not renown for the quality of it's pubs, but the Masonic Arms is a pleasant exception - a first class town pub whose customers are all ages and from all walks of life. In fact, you get everyone in here from yachties to local traders and businessmen. No food is served, but often, the landlord and landlady will put cheese and biscuits on the bar - free to the customers. There is usually a 'guest' real ale beer and an excellent 'top shelf' of malt whiskies.

Students are often amazed at the way the light catches the black-painted stonework of the pub's exterior. It's a real test in exposure work, but always worth the effort - just take a look at the picture on the right, the stone work positively shines, creating all sorts of metering problems.
