What has Kirkcudbright got to offer photographers?

Up river from Kirkcudbright

Walk up river from the harbour and you enter a secret world of tidal mudbanks, reeds and woodlands. Otters are seen here. Oystercatchers, curlew and other wading birds feed on the banks at low water. The buzzard's haunting call is often heard as he circles overhead.

The light can be magical, especially in the winter when the sun remains low in the sky. The river flows fast on the ebb, revealing mud banks that shine and glitter. The banks of the River Dee are mostly farmland where sheep and cattle graze
