Photography Courses FAQ

Who will benefit from a photography workshop or one-to-one course with Philip?
Anyone over 18 keen enough to learn more about photography.

I’m worried I am not good enough to join a group of photographers.
Just relax, come and have some fun. Most people feel nervous about joining a group. Everyone is there to learn and enjoy their photography. Read these comments from other photographers if you are still concerned.

I am a complete novice can I come on a photography workshop?
It depends on the individual workshop. Some workshops are for more advance photographers.
Some are suitable for all levels. Maybe you should choose a session of one-to-one tuition so that you can
get individual attention right at the start.

Do you do online photography tuition? I am ‘at risk’ and concerned about Covid.
Yes, online photography lessons and tuition is easily avalailable. I offer one hour or two hours online ZOOM sessions to suit you. Find out more

Do I need an expensive DSLR camera to come on a course?
No. It doesn’t matter what camera you use, you will still learn a great deal.

What happens if the weather is bad?
On a one-to-one day, there is usually no problem. However, we may change the location or the subjects to suit the weather – please be prepared to be flexible. If it is really very bad on the day of a group workshop then, in extreme conditions the day may be cancelled. You will be offered a choice of booking another workshop, or you can choose a full refund.

I only use my mobile phone to take pictures. Is this enough?
It is not ideal. I can guide you only in a very limited amount if you use only a mobile phone.

Do you set up my camera before we take pictures?
No, I do not pretend to know the workings of every camera on the market. You must have a basic understanding of your own individual camera. I will then teach you how to get the most from it

Can I buy a gift voucher for a friend?
Yes. On receipt of payment I can email a simple gift voucher that can be pasted into your own personal card to give to your friend.

Do you teach children?
No, I’m afraid not. You must be at least 18 years old.

I don’t have a PayPal account, how can I pay?
You do not actually need a PayPal account. You can pay on the website using your credit card via PayPal.
But if you are in any doubt you can pay with a direct bank transfer. Contact me and I will give you the details

Do I need to use a tripod?
It depends on what we a doing. It is possible to do a Night Photography Workshop without a tripod, but it is not ideal. You do not need a tripod for a Street Photography Workshop, but it is very useful when we cover landscape photography.
