HOW MUCH DOES TUITION COST?

PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE PRICES

SINGLE BOOKINGS
One student per day - personal one-to-one coaching and tuition - 295 UK pounds from 22nd December 2006.

GROUP BOOKINGS
Two students or more - 175 UK pounds each per day for personal coaching. There is a considerable saving if you come along with your partner or friends... and it can be extra fun. I will take a maximum of 3 people this way.

Costs include:

Personal, one-to-one, individual tuition and coaching.
Full access to comprehensive on-line course notes.
Morning coffee (may be a flask if we are out and about taking pictures).
Lunch (may be a packed lunch).
Afternoon tea - if there's time.
Transport when necessary from 'Treesbank' to the day's area of photography.
Course and coaching tailored to each individual student's needs and requirements.

It is intended to cover both outdoor landscape/town and people photography, however, if bad weather makes this impossible, your time will be fully occupied with indoor photography. Priority will always be given to a better understanding and mastery of light, both indoors and out, but the practical use of portable studio lights and flash can be covered. Time permitting and when possible, there may be visits to local craftsmen and places of visual interest where various photographic techniques can be demonstrated and practised.

DEPOSIT
A deposit of 50 UK pounds per person per day is required to confirm every booking. See our TERMS AND CONDITIONS

YOUR DEPOSIT IS FULLY REFUNDABLE IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND A PHOTO ACTIVE WORKSHOP - IF YOU GIVE AT LEAST 28 DAYS NOTICE OF YOUR INABILITY TO ATTEND.
The balance of your fee must be paid 14 days before the date of your workshop.

Your accommodation
Prices do not include accommodation. Subject to your choice, and availibility, we recommend The Greengate B+B or The Selkirk Arms Hotel.

The course fee does not include transport to and from Kirkcudbright at the beginning and end of your course.

You may accompany Philip to indoor and outdoor locations and all students will be asked to accept (and sign a note) that they do so entirely at their own risk and take responibility for their own actions.

You will need to bring with you:

Your camera equipment including tripod - if you normally use one.
Film of your choice - if you use it. If digital remember spare memory cards and batteries or charging unit.
Outdoor clothing including wellington boots (much better than walking boots as we sometimes work along the shore in the wet).
Lots of energy, enthusiasm, an open mind and a sense of humour - we like happy people.
ONE THING IS CERTAIN - you will return home with a new and inspired outlook to your photographs and a far greater understanding of your craft.

COURSE NOTES
Free to all students attending a course. However, Philip would like to share his experience with as many of you as possible, so even if you cannot attend a course you can still gain access to the course notes in the Students' Area of the website for a subscription of 9.95UK pounds. This gives you unlimited access for one full year to the Students' Area of the Photoactive website... that's a fraction of the price of most lens filters, and will certainly improve your pictures a great deal more effectively.
